MELBOURNE-BLUFF
SERVICE TO BE RESTORED START IN NOVEMBER (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The . steamer sendee between Melbourne and Bluff will be restored at the end of the year. For some months at any rate Hobart will not be included. The Maheno will inaugurate the service early in November. The itinerary will include Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, the vessel returning from Wellington to Bluff, thence back to Melbourne. Provision will be made for a call on one or two occasions at Milford Sound.
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, in announcing the arrangements made for the Bluff-Melbourne service, says it is the outcome of negotiations between the Government ana the Union Company arising out of strong representations by local bodies and organisations in tins South Island. The case for the service being restarted this year is strengthened by tho opportunity offered in the centenary of Victoria.
