To-day’s North Island Report.

Overcast conditions were reported this morning at Wellington, East Cape, l'auEonga and Auckland, but blue skies prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light variable breezes were general, the barometer had; commenced a falling movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 61 degrees, Taurauga 56, Opotiki 52, East Cape and Napier 56, Gisborne 60, and Wellington 59. Hough seas were reported at Tauranga and Tirittri; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast An intense anticyclone is still centred east of New Zealand. Shallow cyclonic depressions are 'located near Norfolk Island and in the south Tasman respectively. Winds: Variable at first in central portions of the Dominion, otherwise north-east to north prevailing, stroug to gale force in the extreme north, csewhere light to moderate, gradually freshening. Seas: Becoming rough north of East Cape, rising later south of Cape Egmont, otherwise smooth tp moderate. Eastern Tasman: Northeasterly winds, strong in the northern portion; elsewhere, moderate. Seas, moderate to rather rough. Weather: Becoming unsettled, with rain north of Auckland extending gradually southwards, otherwise fair to fine, but increasing cloud and mist. Temperatures mild. / Midday Foreoast. General inference.—Pressure is still very high to tho oast of New Zealand. A cyclonic centre is located near Norfolk Island, and a low pressure trough extends south-east from at ove,r the eastern Tasman Sea, Forecast.—Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fair and mild at first, but clouding over, and rain likely shortly. Seas moderate but rising.
