DANCING ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF P.B. CENTRE A meeting of the Poverty Bay centre of the Dancing' Association was held on Wednesday night, when there were present Mrs Perston, Messrs. E. Sharpies, chairman, P. Sim, J. Johnstone, W. Livingston, 11. McKniglit, A. Hargreaves, and W. Jonascn, secretary. An apology for absence was received from Mr. W. H. Scott. Final arrangements were made for the association’s dance, which is to be held in tho Selvyn Hall on April 27. On this occasion the Wairoa A. and P. Association’s party will be present to hand over their challenge cup, recently won by Gisborne competitors. The wish was expressed that as many ns possible should attend the function in national dress. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to the Tolaga Bay Dairy Company, through Mr. Oswald James, for a donation of £l. The chairman reported upon the proposed work of tho Poverty Bay A. and P. Association to bring the dancing arena on its groundo more up to date. When this is completed tho dancing board and the ring will be the most modern in New Zealand. Accounts amounting to £2 .13s were passed for payment, it was ngivoi. that the Caledonian Society in Nnpiei should be communicated with to ascertain wlint steps arc being taken to form a Hawke’s Bay centre of the Dancing Association.
