ATHLETICS SHIELD CONTESTS RAPIER CLUB TEAM'S VISIT Under congenial weather conditions, and with a good attendance of tlie pubiic> the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and * Harrier Clufc held a sports meeting at the Childers rbftd reserve to-dav, the major feature'of the meeting being a series of scratch competitions for the Hatfice’s Bay Herald Shield, held by the Nattier AMtie Club. The’latter club senf 'ii strong team to Gisborne to clefend the 1 handsome trophy, and the public saw a fair representation of the athletic talent of the two districts. Tile meeting was conducted with the success usually associated with the G.A'.A. and H.C. functions, results being^recorded as under: SHIELD EVENTS Shot Put (7 entries).—J.
