G.R.C. BUSCKE CUP SINGLE SCULLING EVENT’ Handicaps and draw Lave been declared for the Gisborne Rowing Club's Buscke Cup competition, which is to commence this afternoon, as under:—First round. —C. Shaw, lOscc., v. G. Jones, Bsee. 1 Second round. —P. Gavin, 3sec. v. It. Hanna, scr.; A. F. Allen, Bscc. v. J. Zachariah, II sec; P. Weir, 7scc. v. G. . McConnell, Ssec.; 1L Anderson, 12sec. [v. S. Bruce, Ssec.; R. Scaly, Ssec. v. 11. Hunter, Ifisec.; R. DeCosta, 7scc., v. Nicoll, 7sec.; K. Crnror, ssec. v. T. MeCallum, llsoc.; K. Bell, 7sec. v. winner of Sluiw-Jones. I Tlho course for this .series is threequarters of a mile, and it is expected to have the series complete by Thursday next. - cox CUP DOUBLES. A further race in the Cox Cup double-sculling series was rowed last eovning, R. Kinder and R. Redmond beating 11. Ilankcy and C. Davy. Hankcy conceded f>sec. to his opponents; who went nway smartly, whereas the backmarker was slow <0 get his boat moving. Once settled down, however, Hankey gradually reduced his disadvantage, and at the, War Memorial was about two lengths behind Kinder. In tlho finish Kinder retained a length’s lead. This series will be continued this evening. Scratchings have been more numerous tuan usual, and the series has not yet seized the interest of oarsmen generally, whose attention is devoted mainly to the preparations of the regatta represent atives.
