AFTER THE DROUGHT
THEN CAME THE DELUGE RECORD RAINFALL IN BRITAIN (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received March 22, 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 21. After the drought comes the deluge. The rainfall at London created a 14year record for March. Heavy falls are reported throughout 'Britain. Most parts had only a single rainless day since March 9. It is hoped, in view of the Australian cricketers’ visit, that weather history, recalled in an Air Ministry survey, will not repeat itself this summer. 'Pile survey mentions that the failure of the winter rain is the most remarkable since .1879, when an exceptionally dry winter was followed by a very wet summer. Though nearly 16,000,000 tons of rain fell on London on March 13 and rivers in some parts of England were flooded, experts said that the drought danger was not yet over.
