MARLBOROUGH DROUGHT
MINISTER’S INSPECTION IRRIGATION AND WATER SCHEMES (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. In response to the telegram sent by Mr. E. F. Healey, M.P., the Hon. E. Ransom, Minister of Lands, arrived by the Tamahine last night to inspect the effects of the prolonged drought on the district and to discuss irrigation and stock water supply schemes. The Minister was welcomed on arrival and proceeds to-day to the Awaterc district, while Friday will bo devoted to the Wairau Plain. Last evening Mr. Ransom devoted to an informal discussion .with the Progress League concerning the w r ater schemes it is sponsoring.
