MOTOR-CAR IN FLAMES
A head-on collision between motorcars occurred at Ruahoata, about 19 miles from Taupo, on tho laupoTokaanu road. A Public Works employee, Mr. .)• Carter, who was driving a touring car, drew off to the side when ho saw a large sedan car approaching. This vc . which was being driven by a Maori, Mr. Dick Fleming, skidded ui the loose shingle when it was about to pass the stationary car, slewed across the road, and collided head-on. Mr. Carter s car caught fire and set alight to the other vehicle. Mr. Carter’s car was destroyed, while Mr. Fleming’s-car was damaged extensively, partly through tho impac and partly by fire. MV. Carter received severo cuts to Jus head and one hand.
