HASTINGS STOCK SALE

STORE CATTLE EASIER An casing tendency fur store cattle and for young breeding ewes was noticed at the Hastings stock sale, on Wednesday, hut otherwise values were firm on last week. There was a somewhat patchy sale for breeding ewes. An cntiy of 22.000 store sheep came forward. Values were on a par to slightly easier on last week. Vdung ewes were slightly easier, older ewes making comparatively better sales. Fattening lilies of ewes were in fair demand. making up to 14s 9d. Lambs met a giaod inquiry, with export operators taking an interest in a few well-finished lines that were entered. Wethers were in short supply and made rates on a par with last week. Included in the entries were a few lines of ewes running with the rams, but these did not appear to be ill great demand. The quality of the entry was mixed, with a number of buckcountry lines of lambs and ewes entered. The 25C0 fat sheep on otter were sold to a good demand, which was stronger at the close, when ewes and lambs wore slightly improved and wethers fully firm on last week. There were. .1300 store cattle in the sale, and the tendency was slightly downward. Good quality and well-bred lines were least affected, tile greatest degree of fall being experienced on lighter and poorer lines of cattle. Demand was good and well maintained, although buyers bad evidently reduced their rates in some degree. Some wellbred lines of cattle were- entered, parti cvdarly in the steer offerings, one line of which went, to'£s 15s. Heifers and cows were in only moderate supply, the greater portion of the yarding comprising bullocks and steers. Prices ranged as follows Fat cattle.—Bullocks, medium to prime made £7 7s 6d to £8 10s; others, from £6 7s ; cows, medium to prime, £4 12s 6d to £6; others, from £2 13s 6d; heifers, medium to prime, £4 16s to £6; others, from £4 2is. Store cattle.—-Steers and bullocks made to £5 15s ; cows, to £3 17s 6d : heifers, to £4 12s. Fat sheep.—Ewes, medium to prime, made 17s to 19s 3d; others, from 16s; wethers, medium to prime, 23s to 24s 6d; others, from 225; lambs, from 14s Id to 22s Bd. Store sheep.—Two-tooth ewes made to 20s; four-tooth to five-year ewes, to 23s 6tl ; aged and fattening ewes, to 14s 9d: wethers, to 22s 7d ; lambs, to 17s lOd. A Wairoa line of 87 six and 8-tooth ewes. r.w. Southdown rains since March i 7. medium framed, mixed wool, store conditioned, ex boat, was passed at 16s 8d : a Gisborne line of 84 two-tooth wethers, small framed, 16s 2d. TALISMAN DUBBO DIVIDEND A dividend of JO per cent., equal to 6d a share, lias been declared by the directors of-Talisman Dubbo Gold Mines, Limited, and is payable on March 28. This is the second distribution by‘the company, a dividend of 3d a share having been paid in December. MOLYNEUX GOLD DREDGING LONDON, March 13. The. Molyneux Gold Dredging Company of New Zealand, Limited, issued ],250,000 2s shares. The issue was underwritten. The. issue has been heavily over-sub-scribed.
