OBITUARY

MRS. TOM HOPE E V.T a-'..-. el The death occurred at the Cook Hospital last evening of Mrs. Annie Maria Hope, wife of Mr. Tom Hope, of 105 Clifford street, a well-known resident ot Gisborne. The late Mrs. Hope had been in fair health, but yesterday morning suffered a seizure which led to her admission to hospital, where unavailing efforts were made throughout the day to ease her condition. She was 56 years of a v ge, and was born at Egvted, Skov, Denmark, where she reached her teens before coming to New Zealand 41 years ago. A woman of strong frame and an indefatigable worker, she had no difficulty in obtaining employment, and she became a past mistress in the art of cooking. She was married in Wellington 34 ye'ars ago, and came to Gisborne shortly afterwards, making many friends here who will deeply regret her sudden demise. The deceased is survived by her husband, there being no children. The funeral will take place to-morrow, leaving the late residence of Mrs. Hope at 10.30 a.m. for Taruhcru cemetery. ME. GEORGE N. HUNT (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. Mr. George Newman Hunt, of Wakefield, Nelson, a well-known Romney breeder, died suddenly yesterday afternoon while on a visit to Blenheim, aged 69 years. A tribute to the memory of Mr Alexander Mcßae, whose death as the esult of an accident occurred early in January, was paid by the president of the Bore Sports Club, Mr Charles Matthews, at the dance given on the evening of the club’s sports meeting. Mr Matthews drew attention to the absence of an old friend, and remarked that Mr Mcßae had been conspicuous at past meetings, having always been a willing worker for the club. Those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr McRae.
