Corson, B. 3- Brec,' W. Rv B Willbek, T: G Lawless, R. W. J Edwards. H. F. Forster, h. T. Bur ■nard,' A. 1 Wilson, and’ 1 th 6 hon. secretary, Mr. W. Hamilton Irvine. fht (Mayor,-'Mr. John/Jackson,, as . chairman of the Railway Committee,; wrote'appealing for’further funds for jmdiininafy negotiations.—lt was do aided to reply that the chamber was heartily in sympathy with the move merit, and that an endeavor would bo marfc to collect donations from individual members. The Thames Chamber of Commerce Wrote: “From press reports it would appear that-action hits been taken by your chamber in; urging Government approval of a Dominion premium bonds boiids scheme. Similar action has bee a taken by the Thames chamber in urging consideration of a bond scheme, submitted by Mr. J. B. I’orath of- this town. If anything further
can !be done to induce the Govern- ! ment to retain in New Zealand the largo amount of lottery money now“leaving its shores, my chamber, -will, be only too pleased-to co-oporafe .with ,yours -in action in this direction.’’— , The letter was received.' .'' • .A, circular from the Associated Chambers of 'Commerce asked for the ; chamber’s views on changes consider--.ed necessary in bankruptcy .law.. -At the jatest congress of tho Federation o,f Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire it was recommended that there should be greater uniformity among countries of the Empire in regard,, to) bankruptcy law, andthis could be byst achieved by taking the 1 English!- 1 law 'as a model. If eoh--siderntion did not permit the English law Being' adopted in its, entirety., it could be adapted.—On-the motion of Mr. Burnard, it was decided to support the proposal.
