Following his visit to Gisborne aud Hawke’s Bay a few months ago, tne district governor of Rotary for New Zealand. Rotarian T. C. List, of New Plymouth, mentioned in his monthly report to headquarters the tine recovery these areas had made from the earthquake, and also the spirit of the people. At to-day’s luncheon oi' the Gisborne Rotary Club, the following letter was read from Rotary International, Chicago: “Governor Tom List’s monthly letter for December has just come to my desk. I am impelled to write you at once of the very great pleasure which was mine to read what he says about the spirit that seems to lie dominating the thoughts anti actions of the men of Napier, Hastings and Gisborne. I cannot imagine a finer compliment anyone could pay a community than that which Governor Tom List has paid yours. I only wish that the news of vvluit has taken place in Napier, Hastings and Gisborne might l ing in the ears of every Rotarian around the world. What an advance we should experience along the path which the Rotary clubs of the world have laid down for themselves and their members.”
