CANADIAN TEMPERATURES THERMOMETERS ON STRIKE

VANCOUVER, Jan. 3. The weather was so cold in northern British Columbia and the Yukon that some thermometers have gone on strike. New Year festivities were carried out in White Horse at 62 degrees below zero. A telegraph operator at Nnhlin, the highest altitude outpost along the 4 ukon trail, estimated the temperature at lw degrees below zero. His thermometei recorded 80 degrees.
