The death occurred in tho Whangarei Hospital of Alan Hugh McKenzie, 19. of Pak'otai, who was admitted suffering from injuries received- in a motor colli* sion. Jackson., .T.Ps., at a sitting of Hie Police Court at Motu on Wednesday, when Archie -Smith was charged with disordwly conduct while drunk on December Hi. After evidence had been heard, the bench took a lenient view of the case, and dis-j missed the offender with a caution. | On January 24 at Hokitika there will be a meeting of West Coast sawmillers to consider the report on the Australian market of Messrs. D. Reese and J. W. CallweU, who have recently visited tho Commonwealth, and returned with a favorable impression of the prospects for the export of red pine timber. It is expected that tho improvement in demand will show itself definitely by tho end of January and the idea is for tho j millers to decide in advance of a trading / policy in regard to the Australian trade.
