WIVES AND CRICKET
CONTROVERSY REVIVED BRAHMAN’S CONDITION LONDON, Dec. 28. 'flic Daily Teelgraph, in a leader entitled “Contracting-out of Wives,” says • “That a wife is not cricket seems a scandalous proposition, yet we acquit the Board of Control of misogamy in contemplating the enforcement of the old rule regarding wives. Their principle is that a man cannot serve two masters. Trouble is now threatened because Bradman is thought, believed, or rumored to deny the powers of any hoard to control his matrimonial affairs. Though Bradman has been married a year and a-half, Australia whispers that lie is not likely to come without his wife. In the face of such devotion, of what use is the sacrifice of the other hero, O’Reilly, who is reconciled to the thought of leaving his wife behind? We can only hope that all possible tragedies will he averted.”
