A record pass has been secured by Miss Noei \V Ilford Lewis, of Wanganui, in a shorthand speed test at 110 woics a minute. She took down her notes ana transcribed them without a single enol, thereby obtaining a 100 per cent. pass. Considering that she had only been learn-, ing shorthand for nine months, the achievement is the more meritorious. The fact that two boys from the New Zealand Institute for the Blind had been working at the Auckland Boys Employment Committee’s farm at St. John s College was mentioned at a meeting ot Ihe committee hv the secretary, Mr. N.
