PEACE SHIELD BOWLS
GISBORNE TOURNAMENT ENTRIES AND THE DRAW F<ii' lho annual Peace Shield bowling tournament, to be commenced undoi the auspices ot the Gisborne Bowling Centre on New Year’s Day, no less than 80 entries have been received, these comprising nine rinks from the Gisborne club, six each from the Kahutia and Poverty Bay clubs, two each from To Karaka, Tokomaru Bay and Opotiki clubs, and one from Tolaga Bay. It was hoped that an entry would be forthcoming from Napier, but the hope was not, fulfilled; nevertheless, the total entry indicates a continuance of keen interest in the annual tournament, ami bowlers are looking forward to good competition. Al: three town greens will be in use tm tin 1 three days .or the fixture, and rinks will move from green to green as the tournament progresses. The tournament disputes committee comprises Messrs. T. F. Cra'vfoid, L. j,. Power, and D. O. Robertson. The umpires will be:—A section: Mr. A. Slight. B section: Mr. B. L. Power. C section: Mr. D. McGregor. The official opening will take place at 8.45 a.m. on Monday, and play starts at 9 o’clock. Luncheon will be partaken between 12.45 and 1.45 p.m. The entries from the various clubs arc as under:—
