CHURCH WRECKED
OVERTURNED BY GALE Iu the early hours of Christmas Eve the little wooden Anglican Church at Kokatahi, a settlement 12 miles from Hokitika, was lifted Bft. from its piles by the gale which laid been raging on the coast over the week-end. The forco of the wind abated during the day and a Sunday morning service was held in tho church, though it was greatly strained and warped, by the Rev. ft. J. W. Knights, vicar of Hokitika.
Early on Christmas morning the wind increased to fury and the church was later overturned completely so that it became a total wreck.
