PORT OF GISBORNE The Waimea is at Auckland undergoing annual survey and overhaul. , n The Poolta, loading for Napier and Gisborne, left Dunedin yesterday, works Oainaru and Timaru to-day, and leaves Lyttelton to-morrow for Napier. The vessel is due at Gisborne about Wednesday, January 3. The Tiroa loaded wool here to-day and is to sail to-night for Napier. The vessel is due back at Gisborne, on Saturday morning. The Koau is due here to-morrow from Napier. She is to load wool for the Hawke’s Bav port. The Avetona Star, of the Blue Star Line, which left London on December 10 in ballast for Gisborne, is tine on January 15.

At 5.30 o’clock on Saturday morning the Monowai svill leave Port Fitzroy and will arrive at Auckland about 9 o’clock. Passengers on the Royal Mail line) Aorangi, which arrived at Auckland from Vancouver on Tuesday, experienced a joyful Christmas at sea. Favored with ideal weather, all on board were able to appreciate the festivities to the full. In the afternoon a sports programme was arranged for the benefit of the children on the ship, who numbered more than 50. Prizes and presents from a Christmas tree were distributed and a bum Christmas cake was cut by Captain J. F. Soring Brown, commander of the liner. Passengers of all three classes joined equally in the entertainments. Thf adults were also adequately catered for. there being a traditional Christmas dinner, followed by a plain and fancydress dance, which continued until midnieht. Prizes were awarded for the besi and most original costumes.
