MASS MARRIAGES
FIRM’S BONUS TO BRIDES
BERLIN, Nov. 1
A big Hamburg cigarette firm, in support of the Government’s double policy of displacing women by men in the labor market as far as this is poseible, and of increasing the marriage rate, recently offered women employees of a year’s service or more a bonus of 600 marks if they married before the end of 1933.
As a result 122 women employees of the firm were recently married in the St. Johannis Church at Altona, the couples being wedded in batches of five. The Altona storm troops and the Nazi Labor Organisation were present in full strength at the celebrations, which culminated in a long bridal procession through the streets. A Dresden firm lias made a similar offer, and 213 of its women employees are to be simultaneously wedded in November.
