Messrs. Dalgcty and Company have received the following advice from London, dated December 22“ Butter : There is rather more inquiry this end of the week. Quotations: Danish, .112 to 115 s; New Zealand, finest, 65s to 675; Australian, •littest, imsalted, 68s to 725, sailed 63s to 665, g.o.q. 60s to 625. The export of oranges from South Australia to New Zealand closed with a shipment from Australia the week before last, and negotiations have been opened with the New Zealand Government for the entry of Victorian oranges, states the Melbourne Argus. A net loss of £377 for the year ended June 30 is reported by Smith and Smith. Limited, oil and color merchants, of Dunedin. This compares with a loss of £5435 in 1932 and of £8285 in 1931. With a debit, balance of £BB2I brought forward, the profit and loss appropriation account is in debit, to the extent of £9198. The 'phenomenal rise in the prices for wool realised at the stile in Napier on December 1 and the excellent conditions which have ruled for shearing operations lately have resulted in large quantities of wool being prepared with utmost speed for disposal til the forthcoming stiles of: the Napier series. The catalogue of 30,000 bales for the January stile was filled some time ago, and it is .anticipated that it will not be very long before the February allocation ol 20, 000 bales for Napier will also 1m reached. Holders of maize in the Bay of Monty and Gisborne districts continue to have strong ideas in regard to value and the market is not anticipating any reduction in prices before the new season’s grain becomes' available in July. At present around 4s to 4s 6d a bushel is being asked through store.—Auckland Herald.
