To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported at Gisborne this morning, but overcast and unsettled conditions were reported elsewhere in tiie North Island, with rain north of Gisborne. Light to fresh north-easterly breezes were general. The barometer had fallen sharply since yesterday. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were: Auckland II degrees, Tauranga and Opotiki 65, Fast Cape and Napier 68, Gisborne 70, and Wellington 64. Rough seas were reported at Castlepoint, Napier, East Cape, and Tiritiri; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast. An anticyclone over New Zealand has commenced to move eastwards. A cyclone is advancing across the northern Tasman, and a westerly depression over the southern Tasman. Winds : Increasing northeasterly to northerly. Seas: Becoming rough north of East Cape and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate, hut with considerable swell. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong north-east to north winds; rough seas. Weather; Dull, warm and humid, with much mist jr fog m places; lain likely in the northern and western portions of the North island and extending shortly to most districts. Some heavy falls probable in the Auckland province. Midday Forecast. General inference.—Yesterday’s anticyclone moved off New Zealand last night, and a moderate depression, with a centre in its northern portion, has once taken its place. Forecast.—Moderate to strong northerly winds, backing to southerly during to-morrow. Weather unsettled, with scattered rain, and becoming copier tomorrow. Seas rather rough.
