WINTER DROUGHT
CONCERN IN ENGLAND PLIGHT OF VILLAGERS (Received December Hi, 11 a.m.) LONDON, December 15. Despite gales and intense cold, the summer’s drought continues. Prayers for rain are being said in many churches. Village wells are dry, and the inhabitants are obliged to carry water from distant sources through the snow. Over 50 towns and cities, in addition to scores of villages, are curtailing water consumption.
