MEMORANDA

At E. G. A. Reynold’s emporium there is on view a most fascinating display of lovely china and scintillating crystal for Christmas presents, really choice. There will no sale at the Matawliero yards on Friday, December 20. The next sale will he held on Friday, January it, 1934. Past officers of the iM.U. Lodges are specially invited to attend the special meeting called for Monday next, December'lS, at the Masohic Hall lodge room. Regalia is to be worn. Past officers’ degrees and the purple lecture will be the special business. The mercantile firms will close their premises as follows Christmas, Monday, December 25; Tuesday, December 26; and Wednesday, December 27; and New Year, Monday, January 1, and Tuesday, January 2. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Company will close their store also on the days between the above two periods. With the time for the Royal Show rapidly approaching, the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association is working hard to finalise arrangements. It is trying to find out the exact quantity of stock which is likely to be exhibited, and facilities for its housing are being improved. A large general stock exhibit is going to Auckland from all parts of New Zealand. Those who are likely to be out of town for Christmas Sunday have an opportunity of attending an evening of inspiring and devotional Christmas music at the Baptist Church,' Palmerston road, on Wednesday, December 20, at 8 p.m., when the choir, assisted by friends, will rentier the sacred cantata, “From Manger to Cross” (.T. S. Witty).' The tuneful choruses will ho sung by a well-balanced choir under the baton of Mr. W. R. Kemp, while the many beautiful solos, duets and quartets are ‘in capable hands. Favorite Christmas hymns for the congregation will be interspersed. Special features are being introduced into tin' Christmas service at the Methodist Church to-morrow evening. The choir is to be augmented to 50 voices and to be accompanied by an orchestra under the baton of Mi’. Mainland L. Foster. The Hallelujah chorus, and the Glory, will be taken from the “Messiah,” also “Great is the Lord.” Mr. Claude Edwards will render “Nazareth,” and “He Shalt Feed His Flock.” “Come unto Him,” and “He was Despised” will he rendered by Mesdamos Coleman and Poole arid Miss Wheeler. The orchestra accompanies the Christmas carols. The annual retiring offering for orphanages is asked for.
