47 YEARS AT SEA
CAPTAIN TO RETIRE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. After 47 years at sea, Captain Williatn Surman Mason, D.S.C., master of the Common wealth and Dominion Line motor ship Port Dunedin, is to retire on arrival in England early next year. One of the best known and most respected masters trading to New Zealand, Contain Mason was given a farewell luncheon by the Wellington office of the company. Mr Warwick Gregory, New Zealand manager of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, in proposing Captain’s Mason ’s health, eulogised his services over the long period he had been with the company. The luncheon was largely attended hv representatives of shipping companies and mercantile houses.
