ORDER OF FORESTERS

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING There was a. splendid attendance ot the members of the Ancient Order of Foresters, No. (3030, at tho Masonic Hall last evening. The chief ranger, Bio. J. Williamson, opened the conn in the new ritual manner and remarked with pleasure on the memorisation ot the ritual. The chief was supported on the dais by the following past chiefs: Bros. F. Sparrow, F. Sell, V. Venables, C. ITyce, R. Allen, and, A. W. Rambling. The roll call was then proceeded with, Bro. S. Bruce replying for the absentees. The chief' ranger welcomed P.C.R., Bro. Allen, back to the court; several brothers spoke of the good work done by Bro. Allen in the past, and general good wishes were expressed, Bro. Alien feelingly replying. A discussion followed with reference to the amendment of district rules, and the 5 per cent, reduction in the surplus. The position of the latter was clearly outlined by Bros. C. S. Bruce and V. Venables, the majority of tho brethren present stronglv resenting the district’s action. Bro. F. 801 l spoke at length on brothers lading behind with their subscriptions owing to the present conditions, and emphasised the necessity of brethren endeavoring to keep financial, as times could not always be so bad. The Christinas tree function was fixed for December 21, the officers being allotted their duties. Mesdames C. Bryce and Williamson were appointed conveners for the ladies’ committee, and a meeting is to be held next Friday at the chief ranger’s residence. Bro. V. Clements was asked to arrange suitable children’s items for the programme. The chief ranger expressed thanks, on behalf of tho court, for Bro. Clements’ generous donation for the Christmas tree fund. The chief ranger closed the court with the usual honors to the chair.
