Advices from London state, that, the directors of the National Hank of New Zealand have ordered the payment ot an interim dividend for the half-year led September 30 at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum, free ot tax, payable in Ne" Zealand on January 6. 1934. The dividend is at the same rate as last year. INCREASED PROFITS CANTERBURY MEAT CO. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night, A net profit of £39,586 for the year, compared with £23,734 in 1932, and a dividend of 7 per cent, on ordinary shares compared with 5 per cent, for the previous year are shown in the lilty-seCond lialance sheet of the Cantohmy Frozen Meat and Dairy Produce Export Company, Limited. The amount brought forward I roll; last year, with the net profit, makes the amount available for distribution £40,983. Out of this £IO,OOO has been added to the general reserve fund, and after these apportionments, there remains £20,938, which the directors recommend shall be dealt with as follows: A dividend of 5 per cent, on preference shares. £5000; a dividend of 7 per cent, on ordinary shares, £7875; to carry forward, £8063. PROFITS FOR THE YEAR The net profits of the British Tobacco Company (Australia), Limited, for the year ended October 31, 1933, after deducting all charges and expenses for management, etc... and providing for income tax, were £585,610 16s 3d. From this has to be deducted preference dividend for the year of 6£ per cent., absorbing £96,507 ss, and four interim dividends on the ordinary shares aggregating 6 per cent., £488,067 10s Bd, leaving £1036 0s 7d. To this is added £31.085 9s Id brought forward from last year, leaving au available balance of £52,121 9s Bd, which the directors recommend should bo carried forward. Tho directors report that the above figures do not includo tho company’s interest in the undivided -profits of the subsidiary companies. In view of the difficult trading condition* which have prevailed during tho vear, the subsidiary companies’ profits have been maintained at a satisfactory figure. GORDON AND GOTCH, LTD. IMPROVED RESULTS Gordon arid Gotch (Australasia), Ltd., a. publishing and wholesale news agency company, reports a net profit of £31,280 for tho half-year ended September 30, compared with £25,678 the previous halfyear, and £23,458 for tho corresponding half of 1931-32. Ordinary and preference dividends of 8 per cent, per annum together require £24,000, and £23,708 is carried forward, against £16,428 brought forward. SYDNEY WOOL SALES DEMAND FOR CROSSBREDS SYDNEY, Dec. <l, At the wool sales, 12,59(5 hales we re offered, of which 11,52(5 hales were sold-; Ll.'ll hales were disposed of privnlely. On Monday, dollars could have been purchased for 4s lOd, including a' 25 per. cent, exchange. , The I'atca works have been leased for the last year or two by the New Zealand j Refrigerating Company, Limited, but the. Pastoral Review understands that they have liow terminated the lease and that the works are now being controlled by Vesteys during the season. The refrigerating 'company have also discontinued their soap-malting activities, and this part of their business has been disposed of to the Zeahuulia Soap, Candle, and Trading Company, f hristchurch. ,
