150 MEMBERS ENROLLED STATEMENT OF. ACCOUNTS Statements of accounts in connection with tho programme yf entertainments carried out during tho visit of 11.M.5. Diomede were placed before a meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Publicity League lust evening. The meeting was presided over by the Mayor, Mr. John Jackson, and there were present also Mrs. A. C. Terry and Messrs J. Kane, T. G. Johns, V. E.. Sanders, 11. F. Forster, G. J. Jeuuc, and E. W. Forrest. All accounts in connection with tho Diomede carnival were passed t'or payment, and it was pointed out that owing to tho expenses incurred, in connection with the entertainments which were free to the public aiul sailors, only a small balance of profit was shown, this balance to be devoted to the funds of the league.

Mr. Dennis reported that, so far over; 150 members had been enrolled, and that the membership canvass was progressing satisfactorily. It was resolved on the motion of Dir. Forster that all accounts to date should be settled, and that the balance, from the carnival weelc, together with iho amount collected in membership subscriptions, should he paid into a Post Office savings account, the Mayor and the .secretary to act as trustees ; also that the hon. auditor, Mr. P. Crawshavv, should bo asked to audit the ac-1 counts to date. It was further resolved, on the motion of Mr. Forster, that Mr. Jackson should ntako a public declaration restating tho aims of the league, and stressing the purely honorary capacity of the various members; also pointing out that as a representative body the Hague wished to assist as far as possible all local bodies, and desired to avoid any inference that any local association had prefer mice over another. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the secretary on tho motion of Mrs. Terry. \
