“THE FRIENDLY ROAD”
WONDERFUL SUPPORT 7000 ATTEND MEETING (Per Press Association.) . AUCKLAND, this day. A mass meeting of radio listeners in the Town Hall last night carried a resolution asking the Prime Minister, through the Postmaster-General, to give instruction for the issue of a broadcasting license for the operation of a station of at least 200-watt capacity for tho “Friendly Road” movement. This movement is a form of undenominational religious service which had been conducted for two years from the B station IZR. This station has been taken over by the Broadcasting Board, and the services are to be discontinued. The meeting was attended by more than 7000 people, including live members of Parliament. Those present promised to write individually to the Prime Minister requesting a restoration of broadcasting facilities to the “Friendly Road” movement, and it was intimated that unless the services are on the air again in a fortnight, another mass meeting will Ire- held.
