8000 HOMELESS
DISTRESS IN MADRAS
(Received Nov. 29, 11 a.m.) CALCUTTA, Nov. 28.
A surprise census taken between midnight on Saturday and 2 o’clock on Sunday morning estimates that there are 8000 homeless in Madras streets, including beggars, coolies, and rickshaw pullers.
