MINING NEWS Bell-Hooper (Cromwell). —Week ending November 17, 20az. 2dwt. Addison’s Sluicing (Westport).—9sox. for first wash-up, for 75 shifts. The work of preparing the claim of the Hatter’s Flgt Mining Company, on the West Coast, is proceeding satisfactorily. The first paddock, comprising about 25,000 cubic yards of material, should ho cleaned up by the end of January. The operations of the New Cornish Point Company at Cromwell, Utago, have ceased temporarily pending a visit by the company’s engineer, who lias again reported fully after a further geophysical survey employing the seismic method. From the subsequent reports it is considered advisable to commence operations from the Ivawarau end of the claim, and to abandon temporarily the Clutha end. The water difficulties, from the data available, should be no greater at that end. Tlio sluicing plant of the MoonlightNelsou Creek Company, near Blackball, is now coming to hand, and the work of laying the pipe line and preparing the plant for use is being carried oil. The Nelson Creek water race is now ready, and the contractors are engaged in bringing in 30 beads of water. It is expected to have the claim working at full capacity by the end of the year.
