To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported at Opotiki this morning, but overcast conditions •prevailed elsewhere in tho North Island, with light rain in places. Light to fresh southerly breezes were general. Tho barometer had commenced a falling movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland and Tauranga 65 degrees, Opotiki 66, East Cape 63, Gisborne 55, Napier 53, and Wellington 50. Rough seas were reported between Cape Campbell and Castlepoint and at East Cape and Tauranga; elsewhero moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast. An anticyclone'now covers New Zealand, bub a depression is located over the northern Tasman, although it appears t° be losing intensity. Winds: Moderate to strong northerly, backing shortly to southerly in and south of Cook Strait, and freshening somewhat. Seas: Rough north of East Cape, rather rough south of East Cape; smooth to moderate ou the west coast. Eastern Tasman Sea : Moderate to fresh easterlies, moderate spas. Weather: Fair to fine in most parts but still somewhat unsettled in the Auckland province, with scattered rain later, showers extending to the eastern districts of the North Island. Temperatures cold in the South Island, with some inland frosts; milder in the North Island. Midday Forecast. General inference. —The cyclone in tho North Tasman Sea yesterday has now passed westward of the North Island. An anticyclone still covers the south Tasman Sea, and southern New Zealand. Forecast. —Moderate to strong southerly winds. Weatlier, cloudy to overcast, with some showers or misty rain. Cool temperatures. Seas, rough.
