DIVORCES IN BRITAIN MORE WIVES’ PETITIONS (Eke. Tel. Press Assn.) British judges last year dealt with 4638 divorce petitions, _ which is the highest since official statistics were lU'st compiled in 1908. dissolving no fewer thaii 3925 marriages, of which 2271 were on the petitions of wives. Sir Ivo Geikie-Cobb, chairman of the Marriage Law Reform League, says the main reason for the increase is that a wife can now sue for divorce on equal terms with a husband.
