After spending 52 years in the service of the Shaw. Savill! and Albion Shipping Company, Mr. John E. Galbraith, superintendent stevedore, has retired from active work. Mr. Galbraith’s first shipping experience was at Lyttelton with Messrs. Kinsey and Ward. He later joined the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, and after 14 years in Lyttelton was transferred to Dunedin, where for the last 37 years he has supervised the work of the company both at Dunedin and Port Chalmers.

Messrs. F. It. Ball and V. E. Sanders, chairman and . manager of the Poverty Bay Electric-Power Board, left this week to visit Auckland for a committee meeting in connection with the organisation of the Electrical Development Association. a project which received the endorsement of the Power Boards (on ference last month, and which was entrusted to a committee of which Mr. Ball is a member. At the October meeting of the Poverty Bay board, authority was given for the manager -to accompany the chairman to Auckland for the initiation of the committees work. Messrs. Ball and Sanders will return to Gisborne during the weekend. it is expected.
