PISBORNK lambs entered for the , .Mci-; Hoard's district lamb comp.litiuu arc to be killed at the Ksiu liotziog works next Saturday, when a demonstration is to be given farmers. fhere is no limit to the number ol entries received, but one of the conditions is that not more than Id pons, comprising -Id lambs, shall bo sent home from any one district to compete for the North Island Challenge Shield. Each fanner is limited to two pens, and the freezing weights uf each carease must not exceed 4011). farmers may change carcases from one pen to another, but this must be done prior to local judging. One of the , conditions this year is that all lambs entered must be either (1) long-woollcd or (2) the progeny of a Southdown or a short-wooiled rum. crossed with a long-woolled ewe or a Corriodale ewe, or a long-wool-uierino cross ewe. A doelarauon of the breeding must be made at the time of entry. The Poverty Bay A. und P. Association, which is controlling tho competition in this district, is awarding prizes of £2, £1 and 10s for first, second and third, for best pens on the hooks at Gisborne and also similar prizes for judging in London. The Meat Board’s prizes for the best pens in each island are to be £ls, £lO and £5, as first, second and third.
