Mrs Helen Yogel Stern, wife of a millionaire New York broker, sued Mrs Ruth Erlanger Nathan for £800,00(1, and collected £IOO,OOO, according to the terms of the published settlement. During the hearing, playful references were made to Mrs Nathan’s fondness for pulling Mr Stern’s shirt out in public. The New York Daily News says that if was fear of cross-examination which caused the defendant to settle before the jury finally reached a decision.
