LAMBING PERCENTAGES
GISBORNE AND COAST LOWER THAN EXPECTED The lambing percentages for the five Gisborne and Coast counties average approximately 87 per cent., 1 per cent, less than last year, but still 4 per cent, better than the figure of two years ago. This year’s figure is lower than expected. Reports from most parts of the country indicated a good lambing with very few losses, and it appeared as though the percentages would be, higher than last year, which was the best for a long time, However, reports from representative properties throughout the Gisborne and Coast districts received by the stock inspector. Mr. .1. D. Anderson, show that the position around Gisborne is much about the same as last year, but that on the Coast percentages are generally lower, except in the Waiapu County, where an increase was recorded. Statistics show that there has been a gradual improvement in lambing figures since 1930. which was the worst season in this respect for a long time, and for the sake of comparison these figures are
In Hawke’s Bay, lambing averages show a slight general improvement, and for four counties work out at 91.52 r per, cent- . compared with 90.75 per cent, last year, the individual figures being as follows, those in parentheses being, for last year:— ..
