MINING NEWS In announcing the first interim dividend at the rate of 2s a share from profits derived in Queensland, the directors of Mount Morgan, Limited, state that calculating gold at £7 10s a fine oz., and copper at £37 a ton (both Australian currency), and on the basis of existing industrial conditions, they anticipate after providing reserves to meet future development and increased output and a welfare scheme for the employees at the mine, being able, from now on, to pay quarterly dividends at the rate of 2s a share. The current dividend will he payable on December 27^ Sufficient supplies of maize are coming forward for requirements, reports the Auckland Herald. The demand eased slightly on account of the warmer weather which was experienced. Growers with stocks are busy preparing nest season’s crops, and in many cases are not anxious to sell. "Values remain unaltered, and prices seem likely to hold steadily on account of the firmer tone in other produce lines. Present values on spot range from 4s to 4s 3d a bushel through store.
