RAIN IN AUSTRALIA
WIDE AREA AFFECTED SOME FLOODS REPORTED (Received October 2, noon.) SYDNEY, October 2. Rain fell over most States during the week-end, and was so heavy in the north-western parts that floods are feared in the inland river systems. Torrential falls were recorded in parts of central and southern Queensland, and many rivers are in high flood. Twenty inches fell at Takilbernn during the week-end. Other places reported 15in. The Burnett River is 23ft above normal, and is now 10ft over the wharves' at Bundaberg. The Charleville aerodrome is under water. A mail plane dropped bags of mail, being unable to land. Flood waters entered hundreds of homes at Charleville.
