TWO GANGS CONVICTED
AMERICAN KIDNAPPINGS SENSATIONAL CASES WASHINGTON, Oct. 1. What is; considered to be an important, achievement in the Federal Government’s campaign against kidnapping is seen in two convictions secured to-day in two sensational cases. Seven defendants, including one woman and a notorious gunman, Harvey Bailey, were convicted and face life imprisonment in connection with the kidnapping of Mr. Charles Urschel, a wealthy Oklahoma city petroleum magnate. Approximately .C 15,000 of the £40,000 ransom which was paid has also been recovered.
Six members of a gang, three of whom, including one woman, received life imprisonment, were convicted and sentenced in connection with the kidnapping in August of Mr. Inter, an aged banker, at Edwnrdvilie, Illinois.
