HIGHLAND DANCING
P.B, ASSOCIATION At the recent, meeting of the Poverty Bay and Fast Coast Dancing Association. Mr. E. Sharpies presided' over the following executive members: Messrs. Hargreaves, Livingston. Johnstone, Mci\night, Sim. .lonasen, and Duncan MacLeniian. Apologies were received from Miss Ketmv. Mrs. Perston, and Mr. •Scott.
Mi. Alex. Shaw, the Poverty Bay member of the New Zealand Piping and Dancing Association's council, was prosent by request, and the chairman extended to him a warm welcome. Mr. P. Sim, who wan loeeutiy elected to the executive, took Ills place for the first time, and was also cordially welcomed by Mr. Sharpies. A small an.mint of printing was required. and this was left to the chairman to finalise.
A letter of thanks was drawn up to be forwarded lo the Kaitaratahi Sports Chili, and to Mr. damns 11. Munro, for the hospLality accorded the national dancing fraternity at the recent social fund ion.
1( was reported that Mr. Maxwell had generously donated a medal for the sword dance, at the A. and P. Show, and a letter of thank t was forwarded to the donor, who is a \ ice-president of the association.
A delegate has been chosen by the. association to sit. or, the council at its annual meeting, while the permits for tho dancing events at the {Show have, been applied for. Mr. J. McMullen. a piper of repute from Tokotuarn Bav, i., to he asked to assist with the piping at the Show. A kindly oiler from Mrs. Reid, Fox street, to provide a social function in
aid of the association's funds was gratefully accepted, and this event will lake place on Friday, October 6.
