BLAZING FILMS
EXPLOSION ON MOTOR TRUCK MELBOURNE, Sept. 30. About 100,000 ft. of motion picture film belonging 'to Motro-Goldwyn-Mliver, Limited, was destroyed when an explosion occurred in a motor truck in Lonsdale street this morning. The truck was carrying about 100,000 feet of film from the Spencer railway station to the firm’s film exchange in Queen street. As it was approaching the intersection of King street there was a loud explosion, and Stanley Tcffer, who was sitting beside the driver, felt a violent blow in the back. Portion of the top of the truck was blown off, and choking fumes enveloped Telfer and the driver, Leslie Andrews.
The truck stopped in the puddle of Hie road, nod there was some excitement when smaller explosions occurred and pieces of blazing film were hurled, along the street by a strong wind. Tejfer jumped into the back of the tfuck ami' saved about 90,000 ft. Ho was finally compelled by heat, and fumes to leap to the roadway. The truck was destroyed. It is believed that the explosion was enitSP'd b'v "f Motion!
