In the lirsl minute of the game, the captains Crumbley (Wanganui) and Par kinson (Taranaki) collided "head-on. 1 arkiuson suffered concussion and a gasli over the eye. and Crumbley had a slight injury to the head. Crumbley resumed at the end of the Jirst spell, but did not I ,lav in the second spell. laranaki had 10 men throughout.
