BRITISH M.P. DEAD
VACANCY AT SKIPTON (British Official Windows.) Rec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 29. The.death has occurred at Johannesburg of Mr. Ernest Bird, Conservative member of Parliament for Skipton, Yorkshire. The late Air. Bird, who was a solicitor practising in Ixmdon and a director of several business concerns in the city, had represented Skipton in the House of Commons since 1924, when he was returned with a majority ol nearly 6000. In a triangular contest in 1929 the majority dropped to 3500, but at the last election it was within a lew votes of 15,000.
