Mr. C. Hansen, Gisborne, was a rr cent, visitor to Wellington.

Mr. G. Chalmers. Gisborne, was a re cent visitor to Auckland. Mr. A. Frmld. the Gisborne manager of Messrs. It. McKenzie and Company, bas received advice of his transfer to the position of manager of Hie Palmerston North branch of the firm. His place in Gisborne will be taken by -Mr. Lenox, of Wellington. The Rev. C. K. Hoke, wlm is leaving for the. Chatham Islands, was farewelled at a public meeting at Raetihi. Mr. Hoke lias been home missionary in the Methodist Church, but resigned to commence undenominational missions work, in tile Cliathains. Mr. Hoke spent two years in the New Zealand Bible Irani ing Institute. Auckland, graduating m 1931. Mr. Roke has no financial hacking from any church or organised body, and will receive no salary. The Rev. Father Michael Dwyer, ol New York, who reached .Sydney recently on a health tour, has had a remarkable career. ITitil he reached the age of 57 he was a layman, practising law. lie married early in life, reared a family and lost Ins wife in middle age. In 1918 lie was ordained a priest in Rome, and now, at the age of 72, lias the. proud distinction of having founded two new parishes and built two new churches.

It was with regret that cricketers generally at the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association last evening heard of the-retirement from the office of treasurer of Mr. IT CL Fox. The chairman of the committee, Mr. IT. K. Maude, paid a fine tribute to Mr. Fox’s services, remarking that lie had given his time most willingly, his accounting and lodgments had always been up-to-date. and as ail assistant to the chairman and secretary he bad been invaluable.
