Tin l art union grant of £IOOO to tin* Whangaroi Agricultural and Pastoral Association is regarded as a real windfall. In conformity with the decision arrived at in a conference with debenture holders, the proceeds from the art union will he devoted to liquidation of the association’s liability. The society has issued in all £4120 worth of debentures, of which £2OOO is overdue to 1 A holders. Through the generosity of debentureholders the term was extended, but it will now be possible to repay some oi these public-spirited supporters, and at the same time relievo the society of a •portion of what lias been a crippling burden. The saving in annual interest will be over £4O per annum.
