PRO. ATHLETICS
ROAD RACE POSTPONED A meeting of the Poverty Ray Professional Athletic and Cycling Club's executive was held on Monday evening. There were present: Messrs, hi Sharpies, chairman, 10. Foster, W. McDonald, 11. Miller, R, Humphreys, C. L. Davy, W. Watts, C. Church, and the secretary, Mr. ,T. Watts. As several of the possible competitors for the 34-mile road race to have been held to-morrow were unable to nominate, it- was decided to postpone the event until the following Thursday, October 5. This decision applied to both the senior and juvenile events, and nominations will dose with the secretary on Saturday. It was reported that competitors for the ronnd-the-mouutaiw race to be held on October 28 were training hard and getting into good shape. It was also stated that the work of constructing the cycle track on Victoria Domain was proceeding satisfactorily, and should be completed by the end of October. When completed, it should be equal to most tracks in the Dominion, and local riders should have an opportunity of becoming efficient for competing on New Zealand's fastest tracks.
