UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
HIGHER SCALE URGED STATEMENT PROMISED • (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In tho House of Representatives yesterday, Mr. F. Langstone (Lab., Waimarino) asked whether in view of tho unemployment fund’s accumulated surplus, more liberal payment could not be made. He said that the revenue for June-September had been £2,607,904, and the expenditure £1,824,575, leaving an unexpended balance of £783,329, while for the corresponding period last year the revenue had been £1,917,886, and the expenditure £1,427,220, with an unexpended balance of £490,666. Tho Hon. A. Hamilton, said lie intended to make a statement regarding the board’s finances in the course of the next few days. _______
