{Ht»xald Correspondent.) The funeral of the late Mr. Joseph Pike took place on Monday. There was a • large attendance ol pakehas and Maoris, showing the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The Rev. Mr. Haig.'i officiated. The coffin was taken from Te Puia Springs and the cortege stopped for a little in Ruatoria, where- sympathisers and mourners joined, all : then proceeding to' the cemetery. Deceased, who was 75. years of age, leaves a large family, those surviving being" Mr. William Henry Pike, Palmerston North, Mr. Claude Vincent Pike, Otakl, Mr. Charles Pike, W.aipukurau, Mr. Jack Pike, Waikari, Mrs. Richie, Sydney, Mrs. Collins, Sydney, Mrs. Claud, Christchurch, Mrs. Tenant, Waipukurau, and Mrs. Mullooly, Ruatoria.
