OBITUARY
MR. ALBERT NASH The death occurred on Sunday at the Dannevirke Hospital after an illness of three months of Mr Albert Nash, a well-known and highly respected resident. of Dannevirke for <the past 42 years. Born in British Oapparia (East London), South. Africa, in 18(32, doceased was edttc ted at Southgate, Middlesex, England, and came to New Zealand in 1874. He completed his education at Auckland, and subsequently learned the trade, of a painter and paper'll anger with his brothers in Gisborne. Ho then commenced in business on his own account in Hawke’s Bay. . . n Mr Nash took an interest m the old volunteer movement and while in Gisborne was in the volunteer corps there for 12 years. He was also an old bandsman and was first cornet, player in the Gisborne Brass Band, and later was for some time bandmaster of the Waipawa Brass Baud. He was a member of tihe Fnresters and Masonic Lodges. The late Mr Nash is survived, by his widow and three sons—Messrs. A. Nash and K. A, Nash (Dannevirke), E. L. Nash (Wellington), and one daughter— Mrs A. Brown (Dannevirke).
A Hawke’s Bay exchange records the death of Mr. Robert Heaton Rhodes, aged 78, a son of the late Mr. Joseph Rhodes, a well-known runholder. Deceased was associated with sheep farming in Hawke’s Bay for many years and eventually settled in Woodville, where ho had resided for over 50 years, Sir Kenton Rhodes, of Christchurch, is a cousin. Mr Herbert John Gulliver, who died a few days ago at Rangiora, was the son of a Canterbury farmer. He was born, in Rangiora *72 years ago, and spent the whole of his life in the town.
